Randy Rhoads

This past Monday (3/19) marked the 30th anniversary of the death of guitarist Randy Rhoads.

Two new books highlighting his life are due out this spring including: Randy Rhoads: The Quiet Riot Years, a new book from Quiet Riot’s personal photographer/lighting director/“fifth member” Ron Sobol. Sobol’s book will feature a 90-minute DVD documentary of Randy’s Quiet Riot years.

Also on the way is Steven Rosen & Andrew Klein’s biography, Randy Rhoads. The book touches on Randy’s life with rare photos, interviews and more.

Guns N’ Roses to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Guns N’ Roses are among the artists being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14. Former G N’ R guitarist Slash was recently asked point blank if fans could expect a performance from the classic lineup of the band. “It's definitely an honor and I have no idea what's going to happen on that day. It's hard for me to even…"I'm not really necessarily anticipating anything in particular. It's on the 14th and I'll go down there and see what happens. With all this, sort of, lack of unity on the subject, it's hard to really look forward to it, 'cause I don't know what to anticipate. So it's more like going into it with blinders on and just see what happens.”

March 19, 1982

Randy Rhoads died in a small aircraft crash in Leesburg, Florida, during a stop between concert dates. The band’s hairdresser and the pilot also perished when the wing of the plane they were in clipped Osbourne’s tour bus (the pilot was intentionally “buzzing” the bus), lost control and slammed into the garage of a nearby house. Randy was just 25.
