Happy 30th, Metallica!

The band celebrated its anniversary with four nights of special live performances at San Francisco’s Fillmore.

Joining the band on stage were guests like Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Glenn Danzig, Rob Halford (Judas Priest), and tons more, as well as former members Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) and Jason Newsted.

The band also marked the anniversary with the release of Beyond Magnetic, a four-song digital EP made up of unreleased tracks from the Death Magnetic recording sessions back in 2008 (it’s available on iTunes).

Definitely check out the video testimonials from Beavis & Butt-head, Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister (funny!), Slash,  Michael Schenker, Aerosmith and more.

This bullet belt is made from a nickled (silver) shell, nickled tip and nickled links. The entire belt is silver in color. The M60 308 Calibers  are a larger bullet than the M16 223s so it makes the belt more aggressive looking. The shell was once used but no longer has any gunpowder, or primer - a "dummy" bullet.

Black Sabbath 11.11.11 Cont...

No shock here! The original lineup of legendary British metal band Black Sabbath is reuniting. Singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward made the announcement last Friday, as well as plans for the band’s first album in 33 years (due next fall) and a world tour in 2012. They are already at work on the album (untitled at the moment), which will produced by Rick Rubin.“It's now or never,” said Iommi of the reunion.

“We are getting along great. Everything's really good.” He added, “It's like putting on an old glove. It's fantastic.” Iommi said Rubin’s persistence played a role in them getting back into the studio. “He phoned us every five minutes,” he quipped.  Ozzy said of the band’s return, “It was time. The timing was right.” The original lineup released its last all-original album in 1978 with Never Say Never.

Van Halen New Record Deal

Van Halen is reportedly inking a new record deal with Interscope Records. The deal should be sealed next week, and the much anticipated studio album is said to be on the way in early 2012.  It will mark the first time in 35 years (!) that the band has released a new album on a label other than Warner Bros. It was just a few weeks back that rumors were flyin’ Van Halen would be signing a deal with Sony’s Columbia Records, but sources are telling several reputable outlets the deal fell through when original singer David Lee Roth balked at having an East Coast-based label for a West Coast-based band like Van Halen.

Rob Halford VS P.M.R.C

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford recently spoke with about the now-defunct Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). Halford also talked about the high-profile lawsuit in 1990 that charged his band of hiding subliminal messages, causing the 1985 suicide of one fan and attempted suicide (and eventual death) of another. “It was a peculiar time, wasn't it?,” mused Halford. “Priest, Ozzy, W.A.S.P. -- that was just a very unfortunate time for music in general. It's always been there in rock 'n' roll; it's like when Elvis shook his hips and they tried to ban him being filmed from the waist down.

It's unfortunate because firstly the subliminal message accusations were a lie. All of the allegations were based on non-truths. We really had to stand up for ourselves and prove that these accusations were false. We really hope it doesn't ever happen again -- the only person that it happened to most recently was Marilyn Manson with the horrible Columbine thing. Here's the fact: A song never killed anybody, a film never killed anybody, a book never killed anybody, so just back off, you know? It's got nothing to do with us.”

He added, “I think the world has grown up and probably realized that we've got way more important things to worry about like giving people a job. But it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again at some point. People mistakenly abuse what we do for their own agenda. The whole PMRC was a politically-based idea. Do they still put those [parental advisory] stickers on records? I think there's some value to that. I'm totally against censorship, but I think if you take your kid to the movies you want to go, ‘I need to know is that an R-rated movie or a PG-movie or is it a kid’s movie?’ You do need some guidance. I'm all for guidance but not for censorship.”
